Wednesday, September 1st, 2010: In August, Bob Andersen tore through the Southern League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 19 years old.
The young Mobile starter posted a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 3.04 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 47.1 innings he collected 24 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .253 average.
To date this year in 27 starts, Andersen has crafted a 14-9 mark with a 4.35 ERA.

 | August's Best Batter Announced
Wednesday, September 1st, 2010: August was a very productive month for Toin Okamoto and today the Birmingham right fielder was awarded the Southern League Batter of the Month trophy.
He clobbered enemy hurlers for a .413 average, 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 29 runs.
This season Okamoto is batting .290 with 25 home runs. His totals include 81 RBIs and 80 runs scored.

 | Gilliam Sizzles, West Tenn Fizzles
Tuesday, August 31st, 2010: "He's mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," the Mobile manager said. "When Gilliam does that, good things happen."
These comments came after Tynan Gilliam and the Mobile BayBears shut out the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 4-0.
He had 8 strikeouts, 3 walks and allowed 5 hits.
On his stats sheet for the year Gilliam shows a 2-3 record, 6 starts, 44 innings, 36 strikeouts and a 3.89 ERA.
