| Breaking News |  | Walsh Is August's Best CAR Hurler
Wednesday, September 1st, 2010: The Wilmington Blue Rocks owe Dale Walsh a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in August, Walsh tore up the opposition with a fine 4-0 mark on his way to the Carolina League Pitcher of the Month award.
"When you're pitching this well," analyzed Walsh, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is."
It was Walsh who did the banging in August as he tossed up 16 strikeouts in 45.2 innings, holding opponents to a .220 average and posting a 3.15 ERA.
His record for the year is 4-0 in 6 starts and Walsh has a 3.15 ERA.

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010: Snap, crackle and pop!
In August, Carlos González snapped up the Carolina League Batter of the Month trophy by cracking 42 hits and popping 6 home runs.
For the month he hit a solid .375 with 24 RBIs and 19 runs scored. The Myrtle Beach left fielder also picked up 12 walks to compile a .432 on-base percentage.
For the season González is batting .313 with 120 hits and 13 home runs. He has scored 57 times and batted in 68.

 | Super Week for Potomac's Martínez!
Monday, August 30th, 2010: The Potomac Nationals received word today that right fielder Emílio Martínez was selected Carolina League Player of the Week for his stellar performance in last week's games.
Martínez took full advantage of all 29 plate appearances last week as he hit .480 with 12 hits, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
This season Martínez has banged out 84 hits in 278 at-bats for a .302 average with 17 home runs. He is getting on base at a .379 pace and his totals also include 45 RBIs and 52 runs scored.
